Our pals in Let’s Dance have been touring across Canada for the past several weeks. They are doing a marathon drive back to Eddy to put on their theatrical display of power pop.

sssSLATES have just been added to the bill for the Let’s Dance homecoming show this Friday the 13th of August. Also joining us will be DJ GWhiz on the steel wheels playing all your favourite punk anthems. The show is at New City Likwid Lounge (Upstairs, 101st & Jasper Ave).

Now if you downtown stabbings aren’t really your thang and you are more of a Whyte Ave fistacuffs kinda cat then be sure to check out Falklands & Cop Shades who are playing in the intimate Wunderbar venue (101st & Whyte Ave).

About 8 years ago Eric’s old band The Operators played often and got connected with Vancouver’s The Hoodwinks. The Hoodwinks then transitioned into The Parallels with a new sound…so it will be exciting to reconnect friendships with this show on the west coast.

SLATES are anticipating a redd hott session with Sir Jesse Gander aka The Beenie Prophet once again at the studio controls.

We’ve got a baker’s dozen of songs in the oven right now and are viciously rehearsing over the next 2 weeks to record our sophomore LP. By ‘viciously rehearsing’ we mean aligning the rhythms, finalizing some profound lyrics and melodramatic phrasing, fine tuning the twin guitar assault, drinking red label Keystone, and for pete’s sake getting Eric to stop shredding so irresponsibly.

Greetings! Been a while since an update, no? Well today is your lucky day then. Some new things happening in SLATESLAND:

We’ve got a bunch of Alberta shows booked for the next month or so and we’re looking forward to testing out some of the new jamz we’ve got on the cook. Speaking of food, one of these shows will be at the grand opening of the new Padmanadi Vegetarian Restaurant. That one’s on June 19th and we’re playing at 11. If you’re in Edmonton, come down to the new location at 10740-101 Street and stuff your belly full of tasty vegan treats!

If you’ve got a record player, we’ve got you covered as we’ve still got a bunch of vinyl left. But I know most of you probably don’t have time to drop the needle so go here and put this thing on your ipod/phone/pad/cat/shoe.

Penultimately, I will buy beer in exchange for a rad cover of Hunger Strike.
